Dr Hannah Bunting (She/her)

Dr Hannah Bunting is Senior Lecturer in Quantitative British Politics at the Centre for Computational Social Science (C2S2). She is part of the Department for Social and Political Sciences, Philosophy and Athropology.

Hannah's expertise spans electoral politics, party competition, voting behaviour and political trust. Her interests include British elections at all levels, parties and party system change, and politics and gender. As a quantitative researcher, she has a particular interest in measurement, specialising in survey research design, multilevel modelling and latent trait estimation.

She is Co-director of The Elections Centre, which holds the largest database of its kind, including records for more than 1.4 million candidates that have stood in British local elections from 1899 to the present day.

Hannah also engages with the media as part of her commitment to science communication. She is an Elections Analyst for Sky News and most recently appeared on coverage of the English local elections, Parliamentary by-elections and the 2024 UK general election.

Hannah is open to supervising postgraduate researchers on a number of topics. She specialises in British and electoral politics, and also works on political trust and gender. She is particularly interested in supervising those from underrepresented backgrounds and nontraditional career pathways to academia.
