About me:

I’m currently doing a distance-based Ph.D. in philosophy under the supervision of Dr Edward Skidelsky and Dr Shane Glackin. I’m arguing for evaluative hedonism (the view that only pleasure and suffering are intrinsically good and bad, respectively) and hedonistic utilitarianism (the view that we have most reason to maximise pleasure over suffering: not just our own, but in general). I’m writing on a wide variety of topics in ethics and meta-ethics, and also the philosophy of mind, epistemology, and philosophical methodology.

Anyone who wants to contact me is welcome to do so using the e-mail address provided above (but just as long as it will increase net pleasure). I also have a Twitter account: @mwjcoughlin.
