Overview

I am a Leverhulme postdoctoral fellow, studying the philosophy of biology under the supervision of John Dupré. My project is about the relationship between process philosophy and new mechanism, as biological ontologies. I am a reformed scientist, who turned to philosophy in grad school after a brief stint as an evolutionary biologist. Primarily I work on the philosophy of molecular biology and evolution. My favourite organism is the slime mould.

I have done a bit of general philosophy of science. Some of that work has been on the use of category theory in models of causation. I recently collaborated on a project about explanation and interpretability in machine learning. I also moonlight as a philosopher and teacher of logic and the philosophy of mathematics. There I focus on constructivism and category theory.
