Study with us

Our Department hosts six interwoven disciplines: Sociology, Criminology, Politics, International Relations, Philosophy, and Anthropology.

Our students benefit from genuinely research-led teaching. Students explore, understand, and contribute to cutting-edge research with global experts: from addressing transitional crime and terrorism to developing experiments against climate denial and misinformation, and from applying the latest computational data to combat online extremism to exploring the ethics of artificial intelligence. On many of our programmes and modules, students also learn how to research, explain, and combat a broad range of social injustices.

We pride ourselves on providing our students with a supportive and inclusive atmosphere. We are a global and diverse community of students, staff, and alumni. Our students undertake prestigious internships and industry placements, learn from internationally renowned guest speakers, and have access to support from our alumni network. They also have access to esteemed research centres, such as the state-of-the-art Q-Step Centre for Computational Social Science (C2S2).

Our curriculum is designed to give you the analytical, critical, and communication skills that employers prize. Our graduates go on to succeed in a wide range of exciting careers, from government to the private sector, and from international non-governmental organizations to start-ups. They are highly valued for their understanding of political and cultural issues, ethical and moral courage, analytical thinking, and communication skills, preparing them for success in whatever path they choose.
